THE ŠVEJK RESTAURANT AT THE GREEN TREE HOTEL
Beer with just the right kick, a delightful aroma of goulash wafting from the kitchen and the strict look of the old Monarch peering down from his portrait hanging over the beautiful woodcut bar covered with a Finnish granite counter top. Such was the atmosphere in pubs nearly a hundred years ago, when people had much more time to sit around a table over not just one pint of Pilsner lager with their friends discussing all their joys and grieves.
Now, the idyll of the “old good times” as if portrayed by the famous Czech painter Josef Lada has come to life in our Schweik restaurant, by the way it is a pilot restaurant of a project to provide the atmosphere as if nearly nothing has changed over the past hundred years. Only the Pilsner beer is no longer drawn from wooden barrels and visitors can enjoy not only the delicious Bohemian specialties, but also those of the international cuisine.
Although the restaurant was only opened in 2002, everything here looks as if truly taken out from the books of Jaroslav Hašek. Beer tastes just as good as it used to at the beginning of last century and beef sirloin in the traditional sour cream sauce at “Schweik’s” is prepared according to the same recipe as it used to at the time of the old Emperor.
We invite you to our restaurant, where the old feel young and the young feel like they are in a fairy tale....
